New and Gently Used school supply drive and store
Each year Colorado Kids for Kids hosts an annual school supply drive. During this drive, boxes are placed around local schools so that at the end of the year kids can donate their gently used and new school supplies. Supplies are sorted and organized in order to help as many kids as possible receive enough school supplies, giving them the necessary tools for a quality education.
In the past, donated supplies have gone to a single school. The first year, the entirety of the drive fit into two cars. Each year since, the drive has grown and more schools and local businesses participate.
In 2016, in order to reach more children and engage more volunteers we opened a store to distribute the school supplies. It is unique because customers of the school are able to choose items that appeal to them. Kids in need of supplies are able to come and shop in the store and pick out the supplies they need and want. All of the supplies are free of charge. In addition, each child receives a backpack.
How you can help:
Donate new and gently used school supplies
Donate backpacks
$10.00 can supply a child with supplies for an entire year
$100.00 can supply 10 children in need with a backpack
100% of all donations are used for programs
This store is a very special experience because we are able to interact with the people we are helping, and we truly know we are making a big difference in their lives.
